ICMarkTech 2025 is proud to confirm Professor Carlos Flavián (Professor of Marketing, University of Zaragoza, Spain; Director, METODO Research Lab) as a featured editor in the “Meeting with Editors” session.
A Top Cited Scholar 2025, Prof. Flavián’s research examines human–technology interaction—from early internet use to Industry 4.0 technologies such as generative AI, virtual/augmented reality, service robots and virtual assistants. He analyses perceptions, intentions and actual behaviours of users, critically assessing both the opportunities and risks (“lights and shadows”) of technology adoption across tourism, hospitality, services, retail and marketing contexts.
Recognised as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2023, 2024) and listed by the Stanford University database as Spain’s most impactful marketing author (ranked 64th worldwide), he currently holds an h-index of ~80 and 35,000+ citations (Scholar).

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Professor Carlos Flavián is Professor of Marketing at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and Director of the METODO research group. Editorial leadership includes Editor-in-Chief of the Spanish Journal of Marketing–ESIC, Strategy Editor of The Service Industries Journal, Regional Editor (Europe) of the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and board roles with Journal of Retailing & Consumer Services, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, among others. He has guest-edited special issues in IJCHM, Service Business, The Service Industries Journal, Journal of Service Management, Journal of Service Theory & Practice, Psychology & Marketing, and more.
He has chaired conferences in Zaragoza, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and founded AIRSI – The Metaverse Conference (2019–2023).
