Vitor Santos
Prof. Dr. Vítor Santos is Assistant Professor at NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS) of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a member of the ICMarkTech 2025 Advisory Committee. With over 20 years of professional experience in the software industry and an extensive academic career, he specialises in information systems, artificial intelligence, compilers, and systems analysis. He has held leadership roles in academia, industry, and professional associations, and is recognised for his contributions to research, innovation, and higher education in computer science and information systems.

PERSONAL INFO
Vítor Santos holds a PhD in Information Systems and Technology from the University of Minho, an MSc in Information Systems Science, and a D.E.A. (Advanced Studies Diploma) from the same institution. He also earned a BSc in Computer Engineering from Cocite, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Lisbon, and holds the title of Specialist in Computer Science from the Polytechnic Institutes of Guarda, Viseu, and Castelo Branco. He is currently completing a second PhD in Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon (FLUL). His teaching at NOVA IMS covers courses such as Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Compilers, and Systems Analysis across multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Previously, he was Visiting Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and the University of Minho. In addition to his academic career, he has significant industry experience: he served as Academic Computer Science Program Manager at Microsoft Portugal for over eight years, leading initiatives to support research, innovation, and education in Portuguese universities; he held managerial positions at Santander Bank; and he worked for 15 years as a software engineer. He has been an elected member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers for three terms and served on the board of APDSI (Portuguese Association for the Development of Information Society). He actively participates in scientific committees for national and international conferences and has authored numerous academic papers.
