Luís Paulo Reis
Prof. Dr. Luís Paulo Reis is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the University of Porto and Director of LIACC – Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Laboratory. A senior member of IEEE and former president of the Portuguese associations for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, he has led over 30 research projects in AI, robotics, simulation, and serious games. With more than 500 scientific publications and over 70 awards, he is a prominent figure in AI research and education in Europe and a Steering Committee member of ICMarkTech 2025.

Luís Paulo Reis holds a BSc (1993), MSc (1995), and PhD (2003) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto, specialising in Informatics, Systems, Industrial Informatics, and Artificial Intelligence. He is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), and Director of LIACC – the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. Prof. Reis is a senior member of IEEE, a PMP-certified professional, and has served as president of the Portuguese Society for Robotics (SPR) and the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA). He is co-director of the undergraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the University of Porto. He has coordinated over 30 national and European-funded projects, supervised 24 PhD and 170 MSc theses, and is currently supervising 12 PhD students. He has served as an evaluator for FP6, FP7, Horizon2020, Horizon Europe, FCT, ANI, Portugal 2020 and 2030 programmes. He is a frequent keynote and plenary speaker at international conferences such as ICAART, ICINCO, LARS/SBR, WAF, SYROCO, ECIAIR, and IC3K. He has organised more than 60 international scientific events and participated in the programme committees of over 300. His publication record includes over 500 peer-reviewed papers indexed in SCOPUS and ISI Web of Knowledge.
